5 Home Décor Trends for 2022 & Beyond - Kustom Kreationz by Kila

The world is your oyster when it comes to home décor in 2022. If there’s a theme or trend you want to explore, something that excites you as a part of your home, then go for it (as long as it’s not illegal or immoral)! If you don’t know where to start looking, we’re highlighting some of the bigger ideas, as well as including some classic ideas and advice on how to implement these trends into your own home.

 

 

Texture
Texture mixed with neutrals is tricky, but when done right it’s the perfect layering combination, creating a more sophisticated space. Texture will be paramount in home décor. Start layering diverse textures with Velvet and Boucle fabrics mixed with woven furniture and sisal rugs. Add warmth to any interior by layering these elements together and it will create an inviting space.
 
Nature-Inspired Hues
Home décor is taking a cue from the great outdoors, as natural colors and textures are on the rise. Imagine walking into your house and everything including the walls, floors, tablecloths and draperies, furniture and even the family dog—is all dry-mixed soft greens of forests, sand-colored neutrals of sandy beige beaches, or tan desert sand-like hues of spent grasses under an eggshell sky.

Perhaps the most indelible trend for the coming year is the rise of indoor gardening, as consumers discover that lush greenery gives their space a touch of originality and brings a sense of calm. It's easy to incorporate indoor plants into your living space, and they don't have to be confined solely to kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Add them to office spaces or sunrooms, or even bring a single leafy specimen into your living room or dining room.
 
Antique & Classic
Home décor trends for 2022 are going to be a mix of new and old. Vintage pieces from the mid-century design movement will become more popular than ever, as first-generation homeowners look to recapture the essence of their childhoods. And with supply issues still plaguing those making and selling new pieces, second-hand retailers are seeing major upswings in traffic.
Curved Furniture
Furniture trends for 2022 are moving towards a focus on curvy, smooth, and soft shapes. Women want their furniture to be striking instead of having sharp edges. The curvaceous appeal in the furniture is giving rise to natural curves which add texture and style to the home design.
Pet-centric décor
Cats and dogs are taking over the world. But it’s OK, we’re totally fine with that, especially when it comes to the design of our homes. According to me (and my crystal ball), in 2022 we’ll still be doing our best to cater to those adorable fuzzy little guys we love so much. Investing in pet beds and food dishes made of colorful materials, having at least one wall in the house dedicated to an all-in-one pet washing station with a ramp leading up to it… these are some of the trends I see emerging.
